Advice to Management – If there is expectation for your employees, then the employees need to to have the tools and training to succeed and meet those expectations. Have more consistency in leadership. Communicate goals and personal growth strategies and actually have directors devise a real plan to see it through with lower level employees.

Pros – There is SO much potential. The core values are real and the culture has been really great in the past. I really hope they start listening and save things before it’s too late

Cons – I don’t think the executive team actually knows what they’re doing for the most part and the choices they’re making to try and learn are falling flat (like taking advisement from, and trying to be just like, a company that’s the complete opposite of what Disruptive’s streanghts were). Anytime real feedback comes in they dismiss it with justification like “that person just wasn’t a good fit”. The company had such great potential being a difference maker in the industry and a real positive impact in employee lives. Then they hired externally for all the C-Level roles and brought the only internal hire up from the sales team to lead fulfillment. It honestly makes no sense, just like the titanic willingly smashing into that iceberg. Now the ship is sinking and senior team members are fleeing in droves while the executive team just puts up blinders and carries on their merry way. They literally come smiling to every meeting trying to pump people up with their prepared scripts just days after laying off friends and coworkers — layoffs which the executives team promised us all multiple times would never happen right up to the day it did. Meanwhile we’re all forced into yet another reorg that doesn’t fit any needs and is destroying the lives of individual contributors as they’re forced to hold unreasonably large books of clients in order to pay the salaries of the hugely top-heavy leadership team. For real, I think there are equal numbers of employees and leaders now… and that somehow makes sense? Not only that, this reorg has assigned account managers, who are neither prepared nor supported in their job, to every client. The leaders of those AMs are the most ill prepared of them all, constantly committing their teams to an endless stream of “essential” duties that everyone aside from those leaders can see are impossible to live up to. It’s just straight madness with no follow through and no accountability. Instead the blame is always placed on the most vulnerable people because they’re easiest to blame for poor managment choices. Seriously, this is not a good place to work right now! You need to look elsewhere and everyone still there needs to follow the lead of all the tenured employees and find new jobs quickly. Hopefully as enough people stream out, leadership will eventually be forced to face what’s going on and finally back their words with some action.

Advice to Management – Listen and hear what’s being said and what is real! You are so so far off base from what reality is at the bottom levels of the company. You have to listen and get back to empowering lower managment and individuals if the company is going to survive. Stop falling for fake KPIs like the arbitrary manually approved strategy percentage of the AM department and seek real measurements of success. Everything good going on with AMs is because of CS sacrificing to fill the gaps, not because of AM leaders. You need to honestly look inward and cut from the top down where you can easily recognize the people who don’t have the capacity to do those jobs if you would just take half a step back and be willing to be truly honest with yourselves.

Pros – Fun atmosphere, nice office perks, depending on the team you’re on you can be surrounded by good people.

Cons – At least once a year, maybe twice if you’re lucky, you will not get paid on time. A paycheck will just be missed completely and you’ll have to wait a day, or a few, until it gets sorted out. Good luck dealing with any late fees or overdraft fees. Shift also likes to host political fundraisers that may or may not reflect the views of the employee body- not sure who at the company thought that was a good idea? In terms of actual working conditions, office is too small with not enough meeting rooms, company continues to grow fast but that means more work on the people to make the ideas happen. Also flashy initiatives are done to draw young people in but as those young people stay, family activities should be in the picture or thought of for timing of events. A lot of fun events are done but it is a lot of money spent on that rather than turning that money back to the employees. Same with travel, exorbitant amounts are spent on travel that is unnecessary, instead of putting that back to the employees. HR doesn’t care about true employee issues/concerns, only about protecting themselves from a possible future lawsuit.

Advice to Management – Support your employees and be part of the solution, not part of the problem. Supporting your employees will help retention.
